The Six Dimensions We Evaluate
Every Trusted Partner completes a personal 30–45 minute interview with Hometown Handywomen. Here's what we look for.
1. Quality Craftsmanship
Consistent quality, strong quality control processes, pride in their recent work, and how they handle callbacks and warranty issues.
2. Collaborative Communication
How they communicate with clients during projects. Do they explain, include, and respect — or prescribe and dismiss?
3. Workplace Safety
Safety protocols, worker training, equipment standards, and how they protect both their team and the client's home.
4. Environmental Responsibility
Waste reduction, recycled materials, energy-efficient recommendations, sustainable sourcing. Effort and awareness matter.
5. Support for Women in Trades
How they hire, mentor, and train women. Their experience in a male-dominated industry. Shared mission, not just shared demographics.
6. Fair Treatment of Workers
Fair pay, on-time payment, safe conditions, respect, and growth opportunities for employees and subcontractors.
More Than a Directory. A Curated Endorsement.
Listing in the Trusted Partners Directory is not automatic. Here's what every partner goes through.
Application & Credentials
We verify active state contractor licenses, general liability insurance, workers' compensation coverage, and women-owned or women-operated status before scheduling an interview.
Values-Alignment Interview
A 30–45 minute personal conversation evaluating all six dimensions. Companies must score at least 3 on every dimension and average 3.5+ overall to be listed.
Profile & Listing
Approved partners receive the Trusted Partner badge, create their profile with service categories, service area, and portfolio, and are listed in the directory.
Client Reviews
Clients can leave reviews on Trusted Partners. We monitor all feedback and follow up with partners on any concerns.
Annual Re-Certification
Every partner undergoes an annual check-in to confirm continued alignment, update credentials, and discuss client feedback.
Ongoing Accountability
Partners with persistent negative feedback are asked to address concerns or have their listing suspended. Quality is maintained year-round.

About Trusted Partners
Is Hometown Handywomen responsible for a Trusted Partner's work?
No. We verify values alignment, licensing, and insurance at the time of listing and at each annual re-certification, but we do not guarantee the quality of work. You hire Trusted Partners directly — the contract is between you and the partner, not through Hometown Handywomen. That said, if you have a concern about any Trusted Partner, we want to hear about it.
How is this different from just Googling a contractor?
Every company in this directory has been personally interviewed for values alignment, had their licenses and insurance verified, and met a quality threshold across six evaluation dimensions. Google reviews tell you if someone showed up. Our interview tells you how they treat their workers, communicate with clients, and think about environmental impact.
Does using the Trusted Partners Directory cost me anything?
No. Browsing the directory and contacting partners is completely free for clients. Partners pay a monthly listing fee to be included in the directory. You negotiate pricing directly with the partner.
Can my handywoman recommend a specific Trusted Partner?
Yes. If your handywoman identifies a project that needs a licensed contractor, she can note it in the platform and we'll follow up with a curated list of Trusted Partners who handle that type of work in your area. It's one of the ways this directory is integrated into the handywoman marketplace.
I'm a women-owned contractor. How do I get listed?
We'd love to hear from you. Apply through our Partner Application form and we'll schedule a values-alignment interview. The process takes about 1–2 weeks from application to listing. Listing fees start at $99/month for a Standard listing.
